7.5 Quad: Mount Washington
GPS:
441614N/0711817W.

DeLorme Topo 2.0 generated profile (from Pinkham Notch to the summit and back down on the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail

The usual routes up Mount Washington are the drive up toll road (21 miles north of North Conway) or
more interestingly, the Cog Railway from Marshfield Station.

There are numerous trails.

The most popular route goes from Pinkham Notch via Hermit Lake, Lion Head and Tuckerman Ravine.
It is about 9 miles.  Another route the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail is near the Cog Railway to the west.
It is also 9 miles.

The Appalachian Trail cuts the summit north and south.

Mount Washington is one of the most deadly mountains in the United States because its harsh weather
is underestimated.  It can be sunny and warm at its base but a blizzard can be raging on the summit.
Be prepared!
